Doulas
A doula is a trained professional who provides personalised one on one support to women during pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal phase. Our funded doula service provides practical and emotional support, which helps improve outcomes for mothers, babies and families across Lancashire. By working with a trained doula, you will be supported by the same person, who will be available for you to ask questions, discuss concerns, be present during the birth if you wish, and offer assistance as you establish new routines with your baby, as you transition into parenthood.

What our doulas do.

Our Doula training is accredited by NCFE/ CACHE as a Level 3 Award in Perinatal peer support so you know our Doulas have quality training, mentoring and supervision to be able to bring the best support possible and you can be assured that your Doula is there to support you and is competent.

We are trailblazers in providing this model of support and our staff are paid via us giving funded Doula support at point of contact. Our service has been proven to improve birth outcomes, improve feeding experiences and improve postnatal and antenatal wellbeing. You can find our evidence report here.

We employ and train our Doulas and antenatal and postnatal counsellors to support lots of families, with varying needs. Our doulas and counsellors are highly trained in birth, infant development, counselling skills and are supportive of individual choices. We are here to support and empower you in your journey. We offer various training course in perinatal mental health including birth trauma, plus other courses in infant feeding and antenatal class teacher.
